Synchronization failure alert for software update – SCCM WSUS

About: 

SCCM failed to synch updates with one of the servers. In this example, the primary site failed to synch updates.  

Looked at the event viewer of the primary site server and found out that there was a problem with WSUS where its IIS service stopped working. 

 

 

Steps: 

      • RDP to Signcraft tec 
        • CM configuration manager: 
          • Monitoring, Active Alerts 
            • Synch error with primary site (scdccm01v) 
      • RDP to scdccm01v 
        • Event viewer, critical error view 
          • Found a wsus error “The client web service is not working” 
        • Checked IIS 
          • Under application pool: 
            • Wsuspool was stopped.  
            • I turn it on. 
        • Opened WSUS console. 
          • On the summary page – first one to open, clicked on “Start Synchronization” 
          • Waited until it is finished. 
          • Wsuspool turned off by itself suddenly. 
            • Investigating why. 
            • disable the memory limitation of wsuspool in IIS recycling setting 
              • iis, application pool, click on “Wsuspool”, on the left click on “Recycling” 
              • Uncheck “Private memory usage”, next, finish. 
        • Opened WSUS console. 
          • On the summary page – first one to open, clicked on “Start Synchronization” 
      • RDP to Signcraft tec 
        • CM configuration manager: 
          • Software lib, software update, right clicked on all software update, clicked “Synchronize software updates” 
          • Waiting for it to finish and check the report.
