Use an Intune Enrollment Profile with Apple Configurator

Apple Configurator can enroll organisation-owned iOS/iPadOS devices into Intune when a wired/manual preparation workflow is appropriate. Microsoft’s current Intune interface provides an Apple Configurator enrollment profile and an exportable profile URL/file for this purpose.

Create the Intune profile

1. In Intune, open Devices > Device onboarding > Enrollment > Apple.
2. Under the bulk enrollment methods, open Apple Configurator.
3. Create an enrollment profile and choose whether the device will have user affinity.
4. Export/copy the profile information provided by Intune.

Prepare the device

In Apple Configurator, create or edit the preparation blueprint/workflow and use the Intune MDM profile/URL supplied by your tenant. Do not copy an enrollment URL from another tenant or an old screenshot because enrollment endpoints are tenant/profile specific.

Verify

After preparation, complete Setup Assistant and confirm the device appears in Intune with the expected ownership, profile and compliance state.
